Default NEW Iphone G3 and Scion IPOD Connector Compatibility

OK, here it is. the new iphone G3 is compatible with the Scion Ipod connector and plays like before, but the connector will not charge the iPhone while using it. Scion uses fire wire pins for charging and the G3 only support USB power pins for all charging.

GOOD NEWS, there will be an adapter available any day now, that allows you to use it the same as all IPOD before..

Default mine works, except...

When you're listening to music on your iPhone, the phone goes straight to voicemail. Doesn't even tell you someone is calling.

Is that the way it was w/ the first-gen iPhone?

The dream would be to have not just the phone ring but then also be able to answer it. I'd always hoped that those three little slits in the ceiling up by the front dome lights was a microphone.

1st gen iPhone would make the music fade and the ring would play though the speakers.

Worked great when used in conjunction with a bluetooth system... then you could talk right away.

can't find an adapter, basically from what i can tell the iphone 3g still works in most stereos, but you don't get it to charge unless it's plugged in via USB. There are aftermarket radios available with USB plug ins, but I hope to find an adaptor that we can use so that the phone will charge with our existing systems.

Here's the update on that (from Scion)

Our understanding is that our audio system will not charge the iPhone due to Apple's Specification Change for Charging Voltage.

The 08MY Scion and previous will not charge the iPhones-
We are looking into making changes to the audio system that will work with the iPhones in the future

Unless you are willing to go aftermarket or wait for an adapter or not have your phone charge, then yes.

To add to what I previously stated, the new Apple iPhone and iTouch devices are compatible with iPod capability audio systems in Scion and will function like all previous generation iPods but (as you know), will not charge.

This is due to a design change on Apple's part that was not communicated to Scion and its audio suppliers until after the launch of the latest generation Scion radios.

Hope that clears things up a bit
