Hey everyone! I just bought my 08 xB this past weekend, my first car that I have bought. Absolutely LOVE this car. So now I have a few questions:

1. Air filters..... K&N or just the crappy one that will last 10k? I have read that people have problems with the oil getting to the MAF and causing issues. Would like the better performance though.

2. Wax.... So I want this car to shine. Any suggestions for silver? I have some basic turtle wax, but was thinking maybe one of the more expensive ones might be better.

3. Bluetooth....The dealer wants 250 in labor to install the Blu Logic system. I found the PDF of the install guide, but am worried about taking my dash apart. Any encouraging words?

Thanks everyone!

Dont waste money on a drop in filter. Save up for a cold air intake for a little more performance and a slightly beefier sound.

As for wax, Meguiars NXT works very well.

Taking the dash and other stuff apart on our cars is actually not too hard. It all pretty much snaps together just be patient when prying at stuff lol.

Good luck with your box and welcome!

Welcome and congrats.

As for wax, I use Turtle Wax Ice.

Taking the dash apart is easy-just start pulling! The cars is like Legos and meant to be taken apart and put back together very easily.

Yes definately go the Cold Air Intake route.

I personaly use and will recommend http://www.meguiars.com/. Their products is one of the best in the market

Well knowing scions are known for customization you will only feel proud when you have fixed something by yourself. There are lots of DYI articles on the site, unless you do not feel comfortable doing it yourself then take it to the dealer "Stealers"

Good Luck

Meguirs NXT all the way; used it on mine and was very impressed.

Be careful with air filters, the oil can present an issue. I never minded cleaning the MAS, but I dont worry with it now.

I saw online dyno test where only one of the CAI's really made a difference worth the price, and of course it was the very expensive one. I'll pass my self and stick with OEM.

The 2.4L has a good amount of power, and unless you are planning on boost, I'd just spend money on looks and not speed

So I just installed the bluetooth, which was extremely easy, and I feel great cause I just saved 250 bucks! My friend who helped me recommended the NXT wax also......gonna make a trip to pep boys! The only real reason I was thinking of the K&N is cause you gotta replace the others so often. Might just stick with whatever is on sale at pep boys since I really don't want to worry about the MAF.

DO NOT get a K&N filter, they have poor filtration and you take the risk of the oil damaging the MAF. Just stick with the Toyota OEM filter, it's the best one available for the xb2. A drop in filter will do nothing to improve performance.

Return it for a refund. I did the same thing with my fiance's Altima. Wasted $50 on the K&N filter, starting reading threads on bobistheoilguy.com and how bad the filtration on the k&n filter really is. I threw it away and went back to a paper filter. Paper or non-oiled filters like AEM dryflow are the best options.

Based on my past experience with other cars, most of the so called "performance" parts really don't make enough of a difference. The $50-60 for an air filter can be much better spent elsewhere. You won't feel any difference from the extra couple horsepower you may get. As others have stated, the XB is not a performance platform. My opinion: Leave the drivetrain alone.

I've run K&N filters on all my cars, never had any issues with over oiling. Just follow the directions on cleaning and oiling. Don't need much oil, never needed to buy a second bottle. Its about recycling not performance. Wish I could get a oil filter that was reusable.

Well I used that wax and it looked awesome, but then I had to drive somewhere and got the car dirty before I could take pics

Maybe some smoked out taillights next?
