Newbie Question
Hi all,
Nice forum you have here.
I have a newbie question that I hope you don't mind answering.
Is there any discounting on the Scion or ways to buy at less that sticker price ?
Any discounts to Toyota employee's or ???
I really like the new xB, but paying window sticker with no negotiation at all is a new concept to me.

Pure pricing means that the transaction price = the dealer's posted price. There is no negotiating.
If the Dealer has a recognized employee pricing system, then they can sell to an empoloyee at that recognized pricing system.
It's only because you've been conditioned otherwise, so other cars priced knowing that there will be incentives from the manufacturer and discounts from the dealer. Scions are priced at about 3-5% over cost, and there is zero holdback.
One of the keen advantages to the pure pricing model is that resale on the Scions is particularly high. 04 xB's with 50k mi are fetching around 9-10k on trade in, for example.
Another major advantage is that there is no car on the market that gives you the bang to buck as the scion. You will not find more equipment and better quality at a better price anywhere in the known car universe.

Thanks for the quick reply !!
It is interesting that there is no holdback and they make from 3-5%. I guess that if you add those sales to an existing dealership it is a bonus, but it seems like a slim margin to operate a stand alone dealership on. Unless you have huge volume, that is.

scion can't be a loss leader. with all the money we spend on scion accessories, trd parts, and service and such, toyota is making great money off us. also, it is illegal to intentionally operate a business to generate a loss. it is an unfair business practice that big businesses would always do to crush smaller ones. so it would be extremely illegal for toyota to create the scion brand with the intent of it gernerating a loss just to attract buyers to toyota. it toyota didn't have scion, i would of either gotten a celica, or an x-runner.
