Default Perchance: 2009 Matrix = 2008 xB chassis?

I just noticed the '09 Matrix will be available with the 2.4L engine which leads me to believe it's the same chassis. Does that sound about right?

the new Corolla will have the 2.4 available also, it would make sense for all 3 of them to be on the same (or similar) chassis

the new matrix does not have the same chasis as the new xb it still has that matrix style just the lines of the body are more modernized. its a nice freakin car though. they had one all caged up at the LA auto show.

yeah. its not the same chassis. major structural points like the front a-pillar and the rear c-pillar are different. hopefully though, they both have the same engine mounts and the same wheelbase so that the transmission and axles just slides right in!

When my wife and I were looking at new vehicles this fall, we looked at the Matrix as well as the 08 xB.

We couldn't get over how dated the Matrix felt compared to the xB. It still had a 6-disc CD player, which is dated technology for sure.

Went with the xB and couldn't be happier.

'07 Matrix... can't say this styling moved me

'09 Matrix...doesn't look much different to me. It actually looks a little too much like a Mazda 3.

'07 Mazda3...

At least they changed the interior on the Matrix...

And yes, the engine looks like they pulled it straight from the '08 xB...
