Default Quarter mile time???

I recently went to my local race track to watch people race there cars. I saw some cool cars and some crappy cars like this dude driving his grandmas saturn. I was wondering if anyone raced there scion and if so what QM times were made. thanks!I think the scion could beat a saturn

It really will vary depending on where you live, how good of driver you are, auto/manual, mods, etc. If you're talking stock, probably low-mid 16s. High 15s if you are really good driver.

LOL try taking on an Saturn Aura v6 or a Sky redline and see if your scion can keep up.

www.dragtimes.com

good place to see qt times for most cars. they also tend to give a discription of what theyve done to their cars... pretty cool

you're talking low 16's maybe 15.9's on a manual w/ an excellent driver. It would break into the mid to low 13's w/ on low boost and break into the mid 12's w/ higher boost and associated mods. As mentioned before, definitely not intended to be a fast car.

Most people see the xB w/ a drag coefficient of 0.32 and think its not that bad and decide to race it, but calculating a cars aerodynamics by using just the drag coefficient is wrong. the 0.32 has to be multiplied by the frontal area^ of the object and a few minor variables to get a true gauge on whether the car is efficient for speed. That on top of the gearing and drive train and you can then decide if this is a car you'll want to really race in.

sorry i know i got off on a tangent, moral of the story, dont' go racing any vettes.

I went to a car show at Piedmont Dragway here in NC last weekend and decided to take the car down the track since it was free to those who paid to show...

I've got a 5-spd...the only power mods done to the car are the TRD cold air intake and Strup axle back exhaust. Other mods include TRD lowering springs, TSW 20x8.5s, 5axis Lip Kit, Factory spoiler, Rear sway bar. Theres more but nothing that applies to aerodynamics/bracing/weight.

Their track is only an 1/8 mile and i had never driven on a legit drag strip before so my reaction time and everything like that weren't the greatest. i ran a 10.593 at 74mph for my best run out of the 3 i made.

I can't imagine that that time and speed is anything remarkable, but hey, for the weight of the car and added weight of the rims, plus first times down a track...i dont think it's all that bad!

i'd say that for a car with a curb weight of around 3020 lbs + your weight, @ 158 hp. Assuming 17% drivetrain power loss, mid 16s. Maybe Low 16s for a really good driver that knows how to launch correctly.

Definitely a slow car lol. my awd 90 talon runs low 14s, based on typical mods.

Repeat after me: My car looks cool but will always be slow.

Our XBs are not quick or fast and watching them race is rather pathetic.

Not true. Racing a chick's tC was the FASTEST slow-car race EVAR!!!

No....it will still be slow. For the street a car that cant hit a 12.99 in a quarter mile is SLOW. A street driven car that is between 11.50's and 12.99 is considered quick and fast is quicker than that. XB's are slow and aren't intended not to be.

for some reason this thread reminds me of some mexican dude called Shoe who chills way over her in Chicago. He claims his xB stocked..could easily pull away from a stocked tC Shoe if your on here, I will race you for food!
