Default Shipping a air bag

Is there any precautions to shipping a air bag from a car that need to be taking into consideration?

Thats what I was thinking as well. I am thinking of just throwing it in a box and send it on its way. I just wanted to see how people who have shipped air bags before have shipped them. Like what they packed around them. I am not worried about the rules. I already looked them over

Then how did you not see the first thing that came up; a thread on bimmerforums asking your exact question. It was thoroughly answered there.

i was just going to pass by, but seriously, when someone posts a thread and ask a question, can you just kindly answer it in a way not to ____ off the OP? some people already searched through google and cannot find the EXACT answer. That's why they post it up on the forums to see if anyone can give them the correct and accurate answer.

To the OP, hope someone helps you out.

Airbags are classified as hazardous materials. If you want to to ship them, you need have to have the proper shipping papers to do it.

http://safetyregulations.com/ This is a company that show businesses the RIGHT way to ship haz mat items. I'd call them and ask them, it can't hurt.

Thanks guys for your info. Yea I hate when people assume you never do a search before hand. Just because it was not said in the first post doesn't mean it hasn't been done. Thanks night btw

Way to get bent out of shape over a simple joke, OP. Lighten up.

Jonathan is correct. I'm not sure what kind of penalties are associated with shipping something like that without the proper paperwork (max, care to google that for me? hahaha), but I personally wouldn't risk jail time for something like that.

I don't if many people know, but there was an airplane crash in the Everglades a few years ago that was caused by the shipper not correctly identifying was being sent. The company was sending some oxygen generators that were marked as being empty, but they weren't. Somehow there was a spark on board and that ignited the generators and caused the crash. The shipping company was charged with, I believe, 160 plus counts of manslaughter due to negligence and fines in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Even though you want to ship a simple airbag, do yourself a favor and do it the right way.

Then you might be asking your questions in the wrong place.

WELCOME..TO THE INTERNET!!!!!!

Dont' get all crabby because someone told you to search. If you really needed a quick answer, a simple call to your local UPS or USPS store would have yielded INSTANT results.

Wake up and smell the forums. You've been a member since 08 and no doubt know that often times simple questions get flamed answers. Such is Life...........

P.S. Do NOT send that bag without the appropriate paperwork. An airbag is an explosive device and must be labeled as such. The best thing to do would be to take it directly to your local shipper and have them package and label it accordingly. I deal with shipping all the time. You do NOT want that fine.
