If they mark them up then they just lost a buyer. I don't expect to pay a penny over sticker. That includes crap they throw on the car to try and raise the price. No options for me. I'll perform all my mods myself.

First question: Depends on where you are. My dealer doesn't add adendums to anything, but everyone around us does.

Don't be alarmed if when you get to the dealer, the only ones you see have equipment on them. Just ask them to bring you one in w/o it all on there.

I remember back in 99 when I bought a Civic Si, one dealer added a tailpipe finisher, sunroofer visor, paint protection, floor mats, undercoating and pinstriping and added $3000 to the sticker price. Needless to say I didn't buy the car from those crooks.

I'd say that is very unfair; of our current sales force, about 20% are green peas. The rest have been around long enough to know the product. The 20% probably don't know as much as the others, for certain. That is, however, when the smart salesman will let the customer know he is new and ask the vets to help as needed.

This begs the question, What kind of training does a dealer give the salesman before they send him or her out on the lot to sell cars? Is it just paperwork and procedural training or do they teach them about the cars? I understand that most people who buy and sell cars are not "car nuts" like me that do reasearch before buying and read automobile magazines in their spare time.
Pretty much no training in most places. You're just set free with a minimum of help. If you last, you'll pick things up by listening to other sales reps, Toyota training, and experience.

The attrition rate for new employees is so high that most dealerships have a sink-or-swim policy.
