Thinking about buying an xB, I have a few questions...
Hi,
I'm thinking about buying a 2008 xB this week and have a few questions. I've done some searching, but if you can answer any of these, I would appreciate it!!!
1. Is the factory Scion Alarm worth the $469? I've searched here and it looks like it is called a RS3200. I'd like an Alarm, but I don't want to be taken for $469 if it is not valuable.
2. I noticed that many Scion/Toyota's at the dealship I am looking at have something called "vehicle shield package - Lusterizing Sealant, Sound Shield, Sealant Cleaner, Rental Car Assistance." for $349. Can anyone tell me about this, whether it has any value or not.
3. On the www.scion.com site it seems to suggest that the document fee should be included in the MSRP because of the no haggle pricing. Is this the case or are dealerships trying to charge for this anyay?
4. I like the idea of a cargo cover, but the $259 for the factory one seems pricy. Are there any good places to buy this less expensively? Is there an aftermarket one?
Thanks,
Alan

umm i would go aftermarket alarm. they do much better job and on automatics (this is easy) and manual ( steps are a bit complicated at first) you can get autostart included some up to a mile away.
2 umm the rental car assitance can be handled by your insurance company. but really it is up to you. that protectant stuff yes and no. yes if you are worried about scratches while running through car washes then yeah. they also have a 3m protective film the goes over the entire front end. that might be you best bet.
3 scion dealerships have to follow a set rule on pricing they can't go below or above. most everyone has to pay the doc fees. some dealers make you pay them but add stuff in like one guy got what is refered to as a referal fee. but yes in most cases you will pay 16270 plus taxes licencing. dealers take more just incase your reg fees are higher. but what they do not spend they will cut you a check when you pick up your plates.
umm welcome to scion forums on the 4th one. check out trdsparks.com and a few others within the forum. you might find it cheaper. but that is just a hint

Re: Thinking about buying an xB, I have a few questions...
1) The factory alarm system is worth $225 if you install it yourself and want PnP without any splicing, etc. If you're gonna pay for the install, may as well get a better alarm system.
2) Rip-off.
3) IIRC, I paid $100 over MSRP but I didn't care since I got more than my trade-in was worth.
4) All the factory accessories can be purchased online for a lot less than your dealer charges. Check Sullivan Bros and TRDSparks.
