TYC LED Tails Brake Light Failure
#23
My driver side led's have quit working, no brake lights at all on that side, blinker still works on driver side. Passenger side is working fine. Checked for any chaffed wires or burn marks. Mine lasted 13 months, missed the warranty by one month. Saved the original OEM lights and put them back on. The OEM’s work just fine so I know it’s not an electrical issue with my car or blown fuse. Have sales receipt and original box. Sparks Toyota said it was out of warranty from them.
Now what do I do? How can I get in contact with TYC to plead my case? LED's are supposed to last many times longer than filament bulbs. Not 13 months, that’s absurd for a product that costs $ 284.00 and runs on low voltage. Thats $ 22.00 dollars rent a month for a product that was pooh pooh!
I would personally like to say “shame on you TYC” for introducing an inferior product compared to the OEM tail lights. You put me and my Son in jeopardy while driving on the roads recently. Your wonderful company can’t be contacted by email or by phone conversation either. I see how you stand behind your products you have had cheaply manufactured in other countries and sold to us and surely having defect errors in testing and or internal components. I would love to give feed back on your testing procedure since you state you’re an ISO-9000 certified company.
I posted this under another thread recently, thought it needed to be under here for record purposes.
p.s. I added some more to the context, still upset.

I didn't have a receipt. But if you do have a problem with your taillights after the 12 month warranty, please do contact Scion Experience. They need to know what is going on here. Just kindly explain your situation and let them know that you have high expectations from Toyota. Believe me, I never expected to have a problem with the taillights. The 14 year old Infiniti I owned previously never so much as had a bulb burn out in the taillights, so why would it happen on a new car. I hope Toyota takes notice and extends a lifetime warranty to all of these taillights to keep their customers happy and own up to the mistake they made in supplying Taiwan produced taillights. It would appear from this forum that these lights are almost guaranteed to fail.

In my quest for a solution I dug up contact info for TYC in Ontario, CA. I told them about the problem and they were unwilling to help in any way. They don't deal with consumers, they told me to go through Toyota. I feel that type of response can only be given by a worthless company. Any good company would be extremely interested to know about a problem with their products, and at least try to do something to help the customer whether or not it is technically their responsibility. If they had made an effort I would be singing their praises here for all to see. Toyota needs to set higher standards for their vendors.
