So, I spent 9.5 hours working on the xB today, and I got a lot done:

-Installed loud (and normal-sounding) electric horns w/custom brackets
-Installed super-loud air horns
-Installed MobileHID 4300ks in my foglights
-Installed Figure Engineering grille set
-Installed leather steering wheel

I tried to install my hood strut set, but they suck and were poorly engineered.

The air horns took 4.5 hours alone, because of some problems. It took me 30 minutes to find a good mounting location for everything, 1 hour for the install, and 3 hours to sort out the relay. First, the relay was bad, then I blew the fuse with a new relay hooked up right, then I replaced the fuse and hooked the relay up wrong, and then I finally got it. Apparently Radio Shack relays use a proprietary terminal format.

This was only step one of upgradepalooza, next I will be doing the TRD intake, strut bar, shocks, struts, Hotchkis swaybars, and Eibach Sportline springs.

The blue car in the pic is my dad's 1960 Buick LaSabre. The grilles are not as see-through as they look, it is an effect of the flash.

damn beat me to it! i was going to order one of these kits but was afraid that the fog lights wouldnt install in properly.

any cutting/install tips? cause i also want one of these kits

i like you grille! Where did you get it and was the installed a direct bolt on or need to mod to fit?

 

The grilles fit pretty well, and foglights are super easy to install. There is no cutting required, but there is a little bit of bending to make them *perfect*. Drill the holes from the front, and be very careful about nicking stuff with the drill; it is easy to do. The zip-ties are kind of a PITA.

The wheels are my non-winter wheels...and I miss them sooooooo much. They are hyperblack Azul Speedmesh 18"...they were REALLY cheap at $875 (mounted, balanced, wheels, tires, lugs, centering rings, shipped), only weight 23.5 lbs, and look spectacular.















Suspension is not getting done until I can get a set of the correct shocks/struts and sell the tC ones I have.

It is a somewhat involved install...with about 300 holes to drill and zip-ties to pull. The instructions are in the auction.

what about the steering wheel? I've heard its off and you'll need an alignment?

 

I have not driven the car much after the upgrade, so I am not sure if it is off center or anything. I will let you know once I drive it. I am 90% sure I got it back on the same spline as the stock wheel, but we'll see.

I'm thinking about the grills sans the emblem.

 

After driving it some more, the wheel is slightly off center. I am considering removing it and moving it one notch to ensure it was not an installation error.

I dig everything but the xB emblem... I would use the T-Sport badge (off of Ebay) or something like that

 

Dunno why you guys don't like the badge, it is my favorite part. I think it looks great, and is very understated... Ohh well, I guess everyone has different taste.

Hey thats a nice lookin xb, now my advice to you( I have learned from this), put mudflaps on the front of that car, I didnt do that to mine and my paint looks like someone sandblasted it along the rear doors by the wheelwell, and the bottom rocker panel as well. It happened on both sides and its about a $3000 dollar job to fix it. I figure I would help any xb owner by offering my advice.
