Default Valet Key?

I just had a local A/V shop install a Viper 5900 for me. Now it just seems kinda bulky carrying around the transmitter plus the original key. Can I use the valet key instead? Would it matter? The dealer told it will only drive the car so far etc.

pretty sure the valet key will drive the car as far as the regular key will, it just can't lock or unlock the glove box.

1. the valet key is the same as the regular key. there are no chips installed in the combo key or anything so the valet will be able to be used with no problems. (what do they mean by "drive the car so far" ?)

2. there is no lock on the xB glove box. even so... the valet is an EXACT COPY of the combo keys and would work anyway.

that sounds like just the spare key. on the 05 tc, the valet key doesn't have any buttons, and it can't lock/unlock the glovebox, it can only unlock the door and start the car.

with Scion, spare key and valet key is the same thing. it is just a key with a black plastic end with the emblem on it.

what key do you use to lock and unlock your glovebox? the regular key and the spare/valet key is the same cut. so you are saying that there is a second key for this?

Sweet, I got the 5900 too. I just keep the "Valet Key" on the pager, all you need it for is to start up the engine.

i got 3 keys with my scion, two regular keys with remote lock/unlock buttons, ones mine, the other is a spare. then the valet key is the regular key without the buttons on it. it just starts the car, and unlocks the door, but not the glovebox.

There's no lock on the glove box, the dealer told me the key was just so the valet could take a cheap key that wouldn't be as expensive to replace if broken. So I'm sure there's no difference.

Yeah there is NO lock on the glove box. There should be tho. I have been using the "valet key" all day today and it works fine for me. No problems at all. Now I just wanna figure out how to lock the backseats so they don't fold down.

Just give them a mild slam when you put them up and they will latch into position. Unless you get REALLY creative, there is no way to key lock them into the up position.

Yeah, I want to key lock them in position. My xB was broken into a few months back and I'm just trying to keep my stuff in this time.
