Default Wipers and Hubcaps

I've searched the site fr the info but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I bought a 2008 Xb in July and I've run into a slight problem. I live in NJ so I waited to the pollen around here died down a bit to replace my wipers. And this is where my problem begins. I have been to the major car part stores (Pep Boys, etc) and no one has the wipers in their systems yet. Except Pep Boys who says the driver side wiper is a 16 in. blade. So I'm wondering if anyone has found the replacement blades or knows the sizes? Also I was wondering if anyone knows how to take them off (especially the rear one), since the manual says nothing about them.

My other question is how do you get the hubcps off without feeling like I'm going to crack them in half? I know this sounds like a dumb question but the 3 other vehicles I had owned had wheels and I have no exprience with hubcaps. Thank you for your help.

dont know about the wipers (i assume they're just like everyone else and its just a clip) but i you can either grab one side or 2 and just give it a quick/strong tug.

Wipers I haven't messed with yet, but I've pulled the hubcaps off a couple times. I just held on to the cap with my fingers through the little openings, and pulled. No tools at all.

You beat me to it Whispaz.

Sorry man, when she told me you were fast in the bedroom, she seemed upset and I misunderstood.

Yes, I do know it was juvenile and in poor taste, but you egged me on.
Sorry.

Try NAPA for replacement blades. They don't have to be in the system to get the right blades. They just have to match the length and type of retention and you will be good to go. I bought a set of their teflon blades for my XB1 and they were great and very reasonably priced.

A heads-up on the wiper blades; fronts are not the same length, don't just take one off and buy a pair that size.

Our blades are a bit goofy:
front driver side = 21-5/8"
front passenger side = 19-5/8"
rear = 13-3/4"

Front retention system is not what I've seen on standard generic replacement blades either. Make sure you have one with you to compare.

Thanks Cionide for your info o the wipers. But do you kno how to get them off or the rear? The rear barely comes off the window to begin with so its hard to see its connector.

And thank you to everyone else on help with the hubcaps. I'll try Saturday wehn I'm out helping my brothe in law with a tune up on his Sunfire.

you have to unclip the base part of the rear in order to be able to pull it away from the window. just pull on the top portion, then bottom. it opens up like a door from left to right

From another thread: Replacing rear wiper? How to?

Lift and pull the end of the wiper rubber protruding from the blade stopper

(Do not forcibly pull out the wiper rubber. The backing plates will be deformed or the blade claws will be damaged.)

Hope that helps

Damn, did it to me again Whispaz, that's twice today.
