XB2 transmission slipping at 30,000 miles
#42
EXAMPLE: Going up a hill/driving in a park, it constantly goes 3rd, 4th, 3rd, 4th...drop it in sport mode so it stays in 3rd.
It's just keeping it from the annoying pointless shifts.
The slipping on mine is just normal driving where the speed limits are high enough to be in the final gear. And it doesn't slip if the rpm's are above 2500...weird, but it did that since it was new so I assumed that's normal.

Since the new transmission was installed I have not seen it slip anymore on the 3rd to 4th shift, BUT I have also not driven it much (it's the wife's car) and we have not driven it while it was loaded down either.

Well, it is now several months later and the transmission still has not slipped.
As the winter time approached, the weird RPM stumble that occured at light throttle also went away. But now that summer is hear and the ambient temps are on the rise, the RPM stumble has returned.
So today my wife took the Xb to the dealer again to be dropped off to find out what is going on. I took off work early so I could be at the dealership and explain everything. Well, after about 30 minutes of going back and forth, the service advisor went and talked to the tech that worked on my wife's Xb last year. He then comes back out to tell me that Toyota said that there's nothing wrong with the car. It is a normal thing to happen and that all of the Xbs do this.
I argued back saying this DID NOT happen since it was new so what he was saying was in fact NOT true. Needless to say, he didn't like that. He told me the ONLY thing he could do is to contact a rep in Houston (he called it a certain name, but I didn't catch what it was) and talk to them tomorrow and he will call me back tomorrow.
I'm gonna go ahead and make a new post about this issue, but I wanted to update this old thread to let everyone else that has subscribed to this thread know what is going on.
