xB2's Slow selling..
The xB seems to be one of the cars that spend the longest amount of time on a dealer lot before being sold.

Nope.
Not to crazy about the looks either. Had a chance to trade in our 1st gen before the 2nd gen hit showroom floors. After finding out it was heavier, less efficient etc... we decided to keep the 1st gen, smaller luggage compartment and all.

how to fix the Scion xB sales figures by me...
the hell with what the public wanted. that is now why Scion sells poorly. us original xB owners( xB1's) didn't/don't care what people think about our cars. they work and still work. they had a huge aftermaket following both in Japan and in the U.S. xB2 hits the market fatter than before because Scion paid too much to the crybaby's. In Japan, it had poor aftermarket until just recently. In the U.S., no one wnats to make aftermarket for a poor selling vehicle. Enter the QNC bB. Again, huge following in Japan, huge aftermarket support. those of us in the U.S. can then JDM our cars if we like. We want teh diminutive little boxcar back. All the other manufacturers are selling small boxy cars now. Why would Scion give up the ship?

Before anybody says what will eventually be said. . .
"But boooo hoooo, the Gen2 wasn't MADE for you Gen1 people. . ."
"OMG, u pplz is all haters son dawg mcgee. The internet shud be all filled with gum drup candy and lollipop fields, becuz my hard posts are make me tufff yet so smoooof. OMG my brEAKs are 9" but I got 29" wheels, they so heavy I'm scured they gonna bRAKe on a curb."
Ok. It's been said. But yeah, to avoid another flame war, let's try to focus NOT on why it's good or bad but on the TERRIBLE-abysmal-designer's/marketing/sales/executives-should-commit-suicide-now sales levels. /humor

Scion picking the Corolla Rumion as the next xB was a bad idea.
It completely went away from what the xB1 was and ruined it.

You guys missed the obvious sarcasm of my
post. It wasn't an argument, I was just quoting and mocking the redundant nonsensical things people always post.

Hmmm.. first thing that came to mind for me is some of the most popular modern cars have been around unchanged for many many years sticking to a design and allowing the market to build around it (ex , Honda Civic, Dodge/Plymouth Neon, Porsche 911 etc..) These makes/models havent changed each in 10+ and in some cases 20+ years. I am not saying personally these cars are the best u can buy, but on another token u see so many of these on the road that they must be doing something right. By allowing these designs to be unchanged a "look" or "persona" emerges with the cars...what image comes to mind when a young adult says he own a Honda civic...no mater where u live the image is usually very close. I think Toyota needs to stick with the heart and soul of what they have created instead of face-lifting every few years. i love my Gen1, IMO if you are going to build a image/brand with your car it would behoove you to keep it real and recognizable to the masses...Maybe as a alternative Toyota should have made a completely new car and kept the gen1 rollin...it would seem that a very gas practical, logical car would be welcomed in our current economy whereas in the last year or so several other car companies have already tried to copy the concept with new model offerings like the Cube and Soul. Even if Toyota didnt see it they had a niche that other manufactures want a piece of. maybe the style of the gen1 was too early?...only time will tell.
I told myself i wasn't going to write a novel.

Speaking of the second generation bB, here is a photo of my xB next to what is essentially the new bB, sold as Daihatsu Materia in Europe. Photo was taken in the mountains of Austria, not far from Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Interestingly enough, in Europe they have no clue the two cars are related!

It's called platform sharing. The bB is also sold as a Subaru Dex. It's the same car, same engine, different bumpers and badge... No different than the older Corollas sold as Geo/Chevy Prisms, or the impreza rebadged as a Saab.
Btw, Toyota owns Daihatsu. Toyota also has major shares in Subaru(Fuji Heavy) and also Hino.
