yes because the replacements will most likely have huge chrome or silver plates where the grill should be

Honestly, other than styling I don't care for, the Juke seems to be the best xB1 replacement. Upright SUV style seating, 4 adults who can fit comfortably, under 3,000 lbs, shorter wheelbase than a Versa hatch, and to address the sorely needed power increase of the 1NZ, 188 HP direct inject turbo getting 27 / 32 MPG. If only it was square.

I'm shopping for something new this summer but sadly it won't be a Scion, and the Toyota offerings are less than inspiring.

Wow. . . they ranked Toyota lower than Honda/Acura in that article. Although I agree Toyota is VERY conservative and boring, it's not nearly as bad as the "beak" or Honda's new mailslot grille/front-ends. . .

^ yeah I know. It still looks horrible. I know everyone says it's slightly better, but I think it looks slightly worse. I never realized it, but the beak helps to hide the hideously bulbous pudginess of the front end. Not that I liked the beak, but it's like wearing ridiculously gaudy shoes so people pay less attention to an ugly face. And the rear end is still hideous. It looks to me like it's droopy and sagging; like it partially melted during production.

Toyota's new vision is expected to be released early this week. So let's hope there is some cool in it....and a FT that has an engine and realistic price...

It seems like Scion has been on a suicide mission since the passing for the 1st Gen xA and xB. (I owned an xB1 for two years.) The xB2 looks to be aimed at the "mature" crowd and frankly is one of the great automotive bargains on the road. Why by a Camry when you can have a roomy more practical car for less?

When the xB1 faded the xD should have taken its name. Although the xD is a joke in its own right by being smaller and less roomy. The front interior width is 3.5" more narrow than the xB1. That's why my knee was married to the console on the few test drives I took. Plus it's only $1100 cheaper and gets about 5 mpg better than the xB2. Got to go with the xB2 on that call.

The tC has never been a looker. It looked dated to begin with--another huge blunder. Parents bought it because it was a Toyota and "safe". The new tC is nearly antiquated looking to my eyes. It has borrowed styling cues from the 80's and 90's. Why has Scion gotten cold feet on pushing the envelope?

Finally, the iQ. When I saw it in the mags almost three years ago I flipped. I had to have one. But Toyota drug its feet and changed the car up. The front end extended for our crash standards and only allowing us the CVT. I was dreaming of a 5-speed with a rear sway to terrorize in-city drivers. Finally, the mpg! I just filled up my Yaris hatch and calculated out 37.5 mpg! Why buy a micro car when my mini car gets that kind of mileage, holds four real people, and fold down and hold a ton of whatever? Why isn't the iQ getting mileage in the 40's? A: Possible Prius killer. (I think not.)

My xB1 was the best car I have ever owned. In 50K nothing ever went wrong with exception for the buzzing speedo lens. I hate to see Scion kill itself by giving us mediocre, antiquated looking designs trying to hit all segments of the market.

If they don't start over they are dead.

I want to know why the xB2 hasn't been changed? The xB only got 3 years of production and the new one is going on 4 already.
Scion is sinking fast but it's no wonder. I kinda knew it would happen after they quit listening to the original xB owners. I doubt if even bringing the new bB here as an xB3 would help.
Heck, we needed another car and ended up with a 3 dr. Yaris because it was the closest to the xB we could find for the money and miles. It does get better mpgs than the xB can hope for tho.

It's hilarious hearing xB2 owners trying to put down the xB. I wouldn't trade my 05' for a brand new 11' model xB2. That's saying something!

xB2 is probably still around because budgets were lean in 2009 / 2010 for 'Yota just like everyone else. Cheaper to stretch out the lifespan rather than new product development in a down economy. Also, w/ the tC and iQ coming out, not much left over for a xB / xD redesign. Look for one in '12 or '13 to come out along side the FR-S.

My question is why no turbo or direct injection, on anything? Turbodiesel won't happen but I can dream.

Actually, the original bB came out in 1999, so that's about 8 years of production.

Actually, when the Scion marque was introduced one of the points featured was that each model would have a three year run. (Doesn't matter if a similar vehicle was sold for longer elsewhere, we are talking only about those branded Scion.)

They followed that on the xA and xB Classic, in fact they cut the xB Classic off in its best selling year.

First error after that was calling the new "box" "xB" (they got it right with the move from xA to xD, but not with the move from xB to xB). That upset many of the xB Classic owners - having something in a totally different class of car called the same name as their little Urban Utility Vehicles.

(Actually, the first problem was only listening to the folks who didn't like the original xB when designing the follow-on vehicle...)

Anyway, one of the original points brought up in presentations when Scion was being introduced as a brand was only three years per model. Economics and some poor decisions have obviously changed that...
