Default Redesigned TRD Sway Bar Price Increase

The price is now $223.00 from TRDsparks, with a MSRP of $279.

Pretty big price increase just for a redesign. They must have done some serious changes... Only time will tell I guess.

Not worth it. Just go Hotchkis. 250 for an upgraded front/rear stabilizer versus 223 for a rear stabilizer.

Yeah, but for me, I don't want to stiffen up the suspension that much. Even the Hotchkis sway bar worries me being so much more rigid then the TRD. I want to remove some more roll, but not stiffen it up too much.. Just depends what your looking for I guess.

It's not like you're actually stiffening the suspension when you install stabilizers anyway, but it's up to you.

But you are removing suspension independence from one side to another. A bump you hit on the right side now effects the left. The feeling will be more rigid, rougher.

While that is true, do you really think it'll be THAT drastic? Like I said, it's up to you. You can always just dodge the bumps so it'll hit neither side :D

You should just try riding in an xB with Hotchkis Stabilizers.

I didn't think it was that drastic with the installation of my sway bars. They're stiffer than stock, this is true, but they're not absolutely unbarable. I ask people how my car rides, and they say it rides better than their cars. I've had someone with an xB2 state this, as well as friends with Pontiac Vibes.
But it's all up to you.

As previously stated, Hotchkis, FTW.

Stock doesn't even have a rear stabilizer and he didn't mind it, so something tells me the TRD vs the Hotchkis difference would be even less noticeable.

Anyways, I don't even have Hotchkis stabilizers nor am I affiliated with them but I'm just trying to save someone from the overpriced TRD parts

I get where you guys are coming from, but sadly, I have no way to try an xB out with the H. bars. I have not been in one with the TRD either, but it not being as rigid was a perk to me.

First, the TRD was not overpriced but now feel it is after this redesign. Ill just do some more research and other options and go from there. Just wish the price didn't go up so much!

At first, it was only slightly overpriced, but now, it's all out overpriced

The price will drop eventually anyway, so you could just wait for that.

Yeah, but at $170 I felt like I wasn't being ripped too much, but $230? Damn.

But like I said, I will look into other options and see what else I can get into, if not something unrelated

you will get a tighter steering response with the bars, and you are connecting the chassis points, not actually the wheel/moving points as much as you think. your shocks will still absorb bumps, and yes you'll feel a TINY bit more rigidity, but that is pretty much unnoticeable in daily driving.
the benefits you get from the bars is much greater than that con.

is better (for FWD) to leave the front sway bar alone.
ive got a progress rear swaybar bcause it was like $150 shipped and its 22mm "solid"
both the TRD and Hotchkins are hollow

Wow I wonder how much they could have changed it. My original trd sway bar has been on for almost a year and still works just fine.

I remember reading about a problem in the design which caused it to break off the car, or something like that. That's probably the reason for the redesign.

I really like the Hotchkis bars. I have had mine on there for a while now. I run the K Sport coilovers and Hotchkis bars along with the TRD front upper strut bar now. I love the way mine rides. I have driven this car to Las Vegas 12 times last year along with a couple trips to CA. Handles amazingly and is not real bouncy stiff either.

NoLimitz - Honestly how much do you think the Front upper strut bar help? I have Df's and the TRD sway so i am wondering how much it will help...
