Tanabe Coilovers for 2012 xB
Recently bought a very clean 2012 xB and I am quite happy with it. Installed an Axxtion short shift; finding neutral can be tricky but it is a big improvement over stock. I replaced the steel wheels with Konig 16" alloys, definitely prettier, and I am looking forward to trying out my new Nokian WR-G4s this winter on US 395—handling is fine on dry SoCal asphalt. I ordered a Hotchkiss sway-bar kit but it won't arrive until mid-January. In a previous life I rode HR swaybars and TC Kline coilovers on my '95 E36 M3—it more comfortable than stock, and cornered like a slot-car—awe inspiring. The xB will be my daily driver and ski-mobile, nevertheless I want to maximize my fun in the twisties. But, without sacrificing ground clearance. I'm impressed with what I have read about Megan Racing coilovers and like the option for zero drop, but they are made in Taiwan; probably in the same factory that produces their competitors'. The TEIN coilovers seem to require a significant drop, so I am considering Tanabe Sustec Pro Comfort-Rs; Japanese made and have a minimum drop of only 1/4 inch front and rear. Has anyone installed the Tanabes? I appreciate the benefit of any experience, impressions, comments, good or bad. Cheers.
