I have my transponder numbers(wrote them down), but why do I need to re-register? How would the valve stem know that it has been removed?

I dunno, I didn't re-register anything, and my light has not come back; if there was a problem with the system, the light would come back on. I didn't even hit the reset button.

Guys, I am not really sure how the whole damn system works. I asked all the same questions you all are. All I can tell you is what the service department told me, and I work there so they'd better not be lying to ME! lol

Here's a test we can try.

calibrate the system by turning the car to the accessory position and holding down the button in your glovebox (or under the dash in xB case) until the light flashes on your dash 3 times.

turn off the car.

start the car and ensure that the light isn't coming on.

go to the gas station, let out 10 or so lbs. of air, see if the light comes on,

refill the tire to the proper pressure and see if the light goes back off

reset the light again and drive it down the road.

report back here

Our dealer said around 100 bucks, which sounds fair. $200 is way high.

Is it possible to just put one of the transponders on the spare and leave the new wheels with the new stems?
