Default 235/55R17's too big?

Just found a new set of 2005-2009 Mustang Bullit rims. The bolt pattern is ours, offset is 45 and center bore is around 70. Thing is they come with 235/55's. Is that too big. Not even gonna use spacers or adapters so don't suggest that. Thanks!

It's subjective to width.

Overall, the 235/55R17's are 58mm and some change taller than the OEM 205/55R16. So they could fit, but you'll be raising the car and also closing wheel gap. You could possibly rub the insides of the tires while turning and the overall diamater may be too large to fit in the fender arch. It also depends on your current, and possible, future suspension setup.

If you HAVE TO HAVE these wheels, i'd recommend getting slightly smaller tires.

Your inset would be same as 235/35/19 TRD options but, as severedvegan points out, you'll be 0.85" taller. And same poke: www.willtheyfit.com . Presuming you'll want to lower some, should be OK on TRD or NF springs (I'm running TRDs) since you'll be just slightly stretched. And you can do the liner-tab reversal. But speedo's gonna be off <5%, if that matters. 245/40/17 would give you near identical diameter to OEM.

I'm coming to realize that many of us xB patriots go through at least 3 sets of wheel combos if you don't limit your dreams and the wallet allows...

Darn! I really liked these rims. No plans of lowering due to the roads around here. Guess something else will come by in the future w/o tires in the packaed deal, oh well. Thanks!

Don't lose hope, they could fit. I'd just be iffy about the tires rubbing on the insides at full turning lock.
