Default How wide of a wheel can we run without rubbing?

Hey everyone,

Right now, my xB is on 16x7, 38 offset, black Enkei J10's. Also, I have my xB dropped on Tanabe NF210 springs. While I am really happy with my J10's, I think that it is time to move on to bigger, and wider wheels. I have some money saved, and I also need new tires, so I figure why not just get wheels while I am at it?

For wheels, I have been looking at Work Emotion XD-9's in bronze, but I need to know how wide of a wheel I can have. I will probably end up going with a 17" wheel, or possibly an 18". The biggest thing I want to achieve between offset and wheel width is as much wheel concavity as I can get; without having rubbing issues or needing to roll my fenders. I've never done it before, but I don't think I want to stretch my tires either to accommodate wheel fitment.

So, how wide can go? Also, who has some good pricing on Work wheels?

Thanks in advance for the help.

If you don't want to stretch tires OR roll your fenders, you may as well stick with what you have. Especially if you desire concavity and width. Requesting those two items and not wanting to roll or stretch, it's not going to happen.

Also, XD-9's aren't really concave...
But to be some sort of assistance, I'd recommend the XD-9's in the 18x8 +35mm offset with 225/40R18. I don't think you'll have any rubbing issues but I can't guarantee, you neglected to state any type of drop or desired drop.
If you want to run 17's, I'd recommend the 17x8.5 +32mm setup with 215/45R17 tires.

There's probably more than one person that are available to hire to roll your fenders.

xseveredveganx,

Thanks for the input on fender rolling and tire stretch, I had no idea that it would be necessary. I do realize that XD-9's do not have much concavity to them, but after doing a Google image search on XD-9's, I found that the concavity does increase depending on width. I do appreciate your help, and I guess I may have to consider fender rolling.

Anyone else have some more suggestions?

xseveredveganx is pretty on point. my old set up i ran 17x7.5 +24 which would be only a couple mm off to setup such as 17x8.5 +32 mentioned above. on the NF210s you would be alittle lower than my TRDs, I could see the only MAYBE rubbing would be in the front under like extreme loading conditions that setup would make you almost flush but your not going to be as low, in the rear you should be A-0kay the offset would still be alittle sunk.

pic of 17s

ALSO for comparison heres a picture of a 18x9.5 +15 on my trd drop 225/40/18 tires. 4x4 status -____-

Thanks for the pics Zsanz; they help out a lot.

After thinking about it, I am not totally opposed to fender rolling, or a mild stretch, but I think that an 8 to 8.5 inch width will give me the look that I am looking for.

Thanks again xseveredveganx and Zsanz for helping out a wheel sizing noob.

If I were to run an 8.5, I'd run a 205/40R18. Hell, that's not really even much of a stretch...
