Which Offset? - 19" x 8.5" Wheel (+35 or +45)
I hope this is a easy question...... (never is though...)
For a new 2009 xB
19" x 8.5" wheels and 235/35-19 tires on all 4 corners
I'll have Tanabe NF210 springs (Drop 1.0" front / 1.7" rear).
Which offset do I get? +35 or +45
I don't think +40 is available on the wheel i'm interested in.... (not sure though)
Wheel: MRR HR2
I want to avoid any tire rubbing or having to roll the fenders. Please advise.
Thanks!

Here is a thread from a year ago with front 19x8.5 +35 HR2's on the TRD drop (1" front just like the NF210's). They went with 19x9.5 +45 rears, but if you don't want the staggered look, and want to be able to rotate, then the 19x8.5 +35's will be fine on the rear also. Go ahead and place your order.

Yes! That box looks great. I was seriously going with 18's but those pics really made me want the 19's. It's going to push me over my budget $$$ but what the heck.....
My concern with +35 is that I've seen pics that was really flush with the fender which leads me to beleive that it WILL have rubbing problems with a full load of people or big bumps. Rolling the fenders will be required.
I've read posts from Marshall (eight08customs)..... I think his front setup is at +45 that sits flush. Isn't +35 going to push the rim past the fender and stick out?
I've read a couple of posts that stated +38 in the front and had rubbing issues.... although I think they had 2" drops.
I'm wondering if all these different offsets, non-rubbing/rubbing issues I'm reading is partly due to the manufacturing tolerences that Scion has. Maybe some some boxes can accomidate more or less if an offest........maybe?
Isn't stock offset at +45 also? I guess going with the +45 would be conservative for 19" x 8.5" wheels and 235/35-19 tires. I guess going exactly flush to the fender is not extremely important to me. Although, I would hate to still have that 2" indented stock look with these nice wheels.
As stated above, with the rear, I'm guessing the +35 might be OK, since I'm not running staggered.
I wish +40 was available in this wheel....
Any more thoughts??

According to the calculator / comparer http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp
the +35 offset will be about 1" closer to the fender lip, and the +45 offset will be .6" closer to the fender lip.
I've seen plenty of people post up with 8.5 +35 wheels that have no rubbing issues with a mild drop (Eibach Pro-Kit, Tanabe NF210, TRD).
BTW, Marshall went with +45 on the front to make sure he didn't have any rubbing issues when he drops the air ride suspension DOWN LOW over the tires.
If you want to play it safe, and aren't worried about being completely flush, then go for the +45 offset.
You can't go wrong either way.

The wheel/tire set is being shipped to me so I'll need to bring it down to my local motorsport shop to have them installed with the TPMS sensors.
DOH!!! I forgot to ask if these wheels are TPMS compatible. Do you know if I'll run into any problems with the TPMS sesors on these wheels?

The link with those same wheels that I referenced above from last year is Scion of Bellevue, WA. I'm sure they wouldn't put any wheels on a vehicle being sold from the dealership that weren't compatible with the TPMS. Toyota/Scion national would not be happy with that.

Excellent thinking!!! Very good point!! ..... Thanks again.

I just wanted to report back:
19" x 8.5" +35 wheels and 235/35-19 Falken 452 tires in the front DOES RUB!!!!
I have Tanabe NF210 springs (Drop 1.0" front / 1.7" rear).
While on the freeway, I went through a dip and heard a slight rub. I hope it was just the plastic lining. I'll check the fender late this afternoon.
On the bright side… these MRR HR2 wheels with +35 offset on the fronts are VERY aggressive looking. I like the look. I'll post pics soon.

That is odd?? i have a 19x8 w/ a +35 and running 235/25/19's pirelli pzero and have no issue what so ever. You are running a 19x8.5, but it really shouldn't make that much of a difference? i also have a eibach pro lowering kit on there as well. I did play it safe i'm many areas, but your set up is not that much more aggressive?!

I'm glad you don't have any rubbing issues with your setup.
Here's the difference between a 235/35/19 and 235/25/19 tire.
Side wall on a 235/35 is 23mm (0.9") larger than a 235/25.
Tire diameter on a 235/35 is 46mm (1.8") larger than a 235/25.
That's a big differnce is size IMO.
Tire brand and design has a factor also. Each design has a differnt tread edge roll.

rockthebeef just recently swapped out his old Eiback Pro-Kit springs for the NF springs. He found that even though they both drop the front 1", the Pro-Kit springs were stiffer. Since the NF's are softer, they give a more comfortable ride, but they also allow for more suspension travel over shallow dips & bumps.
BBN-Boys, 225/35-19's would probably cure that minor rubbing issue, if you ever feel the need.

You're right about the NF210s, they do feel a little soft at times when going into a dip on the freeway.
Thanks.

Just a quick update...
After a couple of weeks of very minor rubbing (plastic lining nub).... it did go away. I think the rubbing was only a couple milimeters of plastic lining. Maybe my tires wearing down is also helping. The first time you hear that BRRRRRRR rub is really nerve wrecking. You think the entire fender is gong to be ripped right off the car.
