offset question
i have a hazy understanding of what offset is but i cant really apply the idea towards wheel fitment.
the TRD 19" has the size of 19x8 off 48mm.
from what i understand,(1) if i maintain the ratio of the tire and wheel as stock, i wouldnt have the wrong speed on the speedo. ie 18inch with 215/40 tires.
(2) as long as i get a 8 inch wide with 48 offset, i can get whatever diameter i want without having to worry about rubbing because TRD already did the fitment for me.
are my assumptions correct? thanks much to everyone!

Offset simply has to do with with moving the wheel deeper or shallower within the wheel well (+48 offset moves the centerline of the wheel 3mm deeper into the wheel well than +45 offset, which is the stock 16" wheel offset). If you keep the outside diameter of the tire at about 25", you can put an 18", 19" or 20" wheel/tire combo on, you will just lose tire sidewall height (which is a functional part of suspension) with bigger and bigger wheels.
I think the tire and wheel calculator we all use will help you understand how the changes from stock may or may not work, and what the resultant changes will be:

Keep in mind that the stock tires are 205/55x16" with +45 offset.
BTW, most people go with 225/40-18 tires with 18" wheels.

19x9 +35 in the rear.. will sit flush, just have to roll fenders if your tucking
Fronts 19x8 +45 all most flush can come out about 5mm more
+35 on a nine is the max you can go on a 9inch.. will give you a pretty huge lip.. now you just have to find a rim with that offest.. Most JDM rims you can get that offest.. the normal rims you find on sites and at strores willjust have the normal offest thats made for all cars..
