So I just talked the ears off of the great CIONIDE. After close to an hour of talking and bull____ting we finally got my wheels and other random pieces of info all taken into account. I have concluded that we should have a nation interwebs CIONIDE CELEBRATION DAY, in honor of one of the greatest most helpful members of all time. who has kindly responded to my incessant nature. We need to pick a day or week to have this. Let us use this time and thread to discuss and post up their thanks and to all you lurkers out here come post and say thanks too. You know he helped ur sorry **** out too.

cionide has given me much advice over the time i have been here and i am real close to actually getting new wheels. literally! went wheel shopping with my dad the other day, im looking into Drag Dr-31's 18x9 28 et or 38et. i want to know which i should go with. i am planning to go the hellaflush route later on but for now im most likely going to be on stock springs and shocks. also recommended tire size and brands? cheap but reliable tires too. i have not much knowledge on tires.

18x9 +38 will poke a little in front, and sit back just a little in back. For a family daily driver I wouldn't even consider 18x9 with the +28 offset. You can always add some spacers to the rear to get them to match the fronts for flushness. On the OEM springs, 225/40-18 will be fine, but when you drop it you'll need more tire stretch to keep from rubbing.
I usually stay away from recommending tire brands because personal feelings can be so subjective. I will say that brands such as Kumho, Hankook, General, Nexen, and Falken have generally rec'd good reviews as far as less expensive tires go. Keep in mind that you can't get $200 tire quality in a $100 tire.

thank you cionide! will most likely go with 38 et then and i was looking into nexens or nankangs, but will see whatever discount tire has to offer for a good price. can anybody point me to the direction of 18x9 et 38?!? lol thanks!

I thought you already had a wheel in mind. Find wheels you like first, then see what sizes and offsets they are available in. It's just plain silly to pick size & offset first, then try to find wheels that match... but then you've always been a little bit backwards.

haha ya i already have a set of wheels in mind drag dr-31's. i want to see actual pics of any wheel with 18x9 et 38, my other wheels that i know i can't get but really want are enkei rpf1's in 18x9 et35.

You're getting better Paolo. Yup, 18x9 +40. They will poke about 1/4" up front, and sit back from dead flush about 1/4" in the rear.
As for tires; 215/40-18 should give you enough stretch to clear the fenders on a DF drop.
