TPMS problem

TPMS problem
Last week the TPMS light went on in the dash of our xB2. Since it was snowing that day we didn't mess with it, just put the car in the garage. Well, I finally went to take care of it on Saturday but the light was out. I checked the tires and the pressure seemed OK but the light has me spooked. Does this happen a lot? I was thinking maybe the snow got into the tire and somehow threw it out of balance but I don't think that's how it works so I am stumped as to what happened.

Was it super cold out? Maybe the cold air dropped the air pressure in one or more of the tires just enough to set off the TPMS, but when they had a chance to warm back up all the tires have enough pressure to not set off the sensor/light.
I'm assuming that since the TPMS light came on, you have at least checked all the tire pressures to make sure they are all good. Where any of them in the 26-28# range when you checked them?

Does the spare have a monitor as well? I know my 4Runner did, but it was a fullsize spare, not a temp like the xB.
On a run to Mammoth once in my 4Runner, it got cold enough to cause the sensor in the spare to cause a low pressure warning.

No sensor in the spare. Also a good idea to check the spare as regularly as the rest of the tires. The 1st time I checked mine was before driving on a 400 mile trip about 7 months after purchasing it... down 20 lbs. to 40PSI. I thought a 60PSI spare with no weight on it would hold air better than that, but apparently not.

oh wow mine just came on about three days ago.. I was wondering what was wrong cause the tires are fine. I will take it to the dealership friday and see what they say! from what I have heard so far they have been having problems with these sensors..... anybody want to chime in and add comments to that please cause I wanna know why it came on along with a friends friends xD!!

Well, it happened again. Our TPMS light will stay on after the car starts when it's cold (20 degrees or colder) but goes off after some vigorous driving. I checked pressure on all 4 tires a few weeks ago and everything was fine, so I am wondering if all the snow and cold is affecting it, making the pressure drop until the tires heat up a bit.

i have no sensors on my wheels cause i had them on my aftermarket wheels. sold the wheels and have the sensors sitting in my garage. i just put a piece of tap over the tpms light on the gauge cluster. works for me.
