TRD springs and 17's???
Was wondering if anyone has their xB on 17" rims and just TRD lowering springs. I was thinking about doing this to my 2011 because I'm sitting on stock suspensions and stock steelies atm, but would like to do a little something to my daily driver.
Opinions? Pictures would be cool because I would like to see what it will look like. Thanks a lot.

No problems at all with 17's on TRD springs, but NF210's will even out the ride height a little more, as well as riding better.

Thanks Lefty for the pics... your xB looks really good.
And, Cionide, as always, you provide so much useful information. There was a lot of good info on that NF thread. And by comparing the pics from that thread to Lefty's pics, there is a little less gap from the NF's. It also sounds like you have convinced a lot of other owners to make the switch to NF's...lol.
I did happen to notice that you were going to get 18's though. did you end up getting them? The main reason why I am looking at getting 17's is for the sheer price of the tires. 225 45/17's run around the $100.00 and under price per tire. and 225 40/18's start at $150.00 per tire. Would the difference in rim size even make that much of a difference in anything other than looks? just a thought.
Thanks again for all the great info guys. much appreciated!

Not sure if you're just being sarcastic or not. I'm dropped on NF210's and Sam is dropped on DF210's. I know many people with coilovers or air bags don't consider springs much of a drop, but my ride is a daily driver that sees 500 miles per week of mainly freeway miles, so I wasn't looking for anything that aggressive.

With a mild drop I think the 18's look a lot better and can provide more responsive handling due to the lower sidewall height, but they can also ride a little harsher because of that same lower sidewall height.

So they won't affect the speedo reading or mileage? Also, will they rub with a full car of passengers?

225/45-17 or 225/40-18 tires are about the same outside diameter as the OEM 205/55-16 tires, so no appreciable difference in the speedo. MPG will depend on the weight of the tire & wheel combo, as well as the rolling resistance of whatever tires you go with. Rubbing will depend on the width and offset of the wheels and tires, as well as low you go with any drop. It's all a matter of combination and compromise. When you find the wheels you like we can look at what widths and offsets are available, as compared to whatever drop you decide on, to see what will work best for you. Keep in mind that the wider the wheels, and/or lower the wheel offset, will determine how much or little tire stretch will be necessary to keep from rubbing with a full weight load.

Well. I'm really leaning towards the ND drop and I really have my eye on the Drag DR-33 rims. Here are the differences:
17x7.5 +45mm offset, 20lbs.
18x7.5 +45mm offset, 21.95lbs.
I know we were talking about the 225 tire, would 215's be able to substitute. That is less rolling resistance, right?

You could certainly run a 215 tire on a 7.5" wide wheel. Yes, in general, a narrower tire will have less rolling resistance than a wider tire. Other factors that also affect rolling resistance are tire weight and rubber compound.
