Default Wire Wheels for my Rumion..

Hi! All you Scion xB out there! This is blinkaunsl from Singapore. I own the Japanese JDM version of the xB known as Rumion here. My ride is only powering with a 1.5L VVT-i producing 110bhp mated with CVT-i non stage gear box.
And I've currently order a set of wire rim which weight 20kg ea 17x8.0, off set 38. By the way my PCD is 5x114.3. My worry now is the rim too heavy for my ride. And is the below figure compatible with my ride. Pls advise! Thanx you all!

17x8.0 +38 offset will fit fine, but 20kg (44lbs.) is HEAVY, more than twice the weight of the stock steeies.

You can kiss your gas mileage and acceleration goodbye, especially with that little 1.5L 110hp engine.

I agree with CIONIDE, but it'll look sick! I dig the look of it for sure!

You'll be fine! I had that heavy of a wheel on my first gen xB and didn't have any problems.

I have my Gold Wire Wheel on my ride now. And I'm the 1st car in town with the rim. Now I have a few questions if anybody can help.

1) Is 17x8.0j too big for wire wheel? As I've seen a lot lowrider's car using 15'. And its very heavy!!!!! Thinking of switching to 15'.

What? You mean all that weight is affecting performance and gas mileage? How can that be? Surprise surprise, it's called physics.

17x8 is not too big for a wire wheel in general; it's just that the energy required to get any wheel that heavy into rotation is greater than a 1.5L 110hp engine is efficiently designed for when also taking into consideration all the other daily driving requirements and parameters.

I think tiny little 15" wheels would look silly on a Rumion/xB. I'm not even sure if a 15" wheel will clear the brake calipers. If you do decide to get 15" wheels, I strongly suggest that you test fit them before buying. That way you can avoid a 2nd set of wheels that don't properly meet your needs.

BTW, all weight problems aside, you must have one of the best looking classic old school style Rumions in Singapore. I wish the wheels were lighter for you. How much do the 15" wheels weigh?

Well, lowriders use smaller diamater wire wheels for a reason... They're strong and it's the style. A 100spoke Dayton is going to be stronger than any 16" alloy wheel. An alloy wheel will break where a wire wheel will bend. Hoppers need strong wheels because of all the weight. A V8 up front and 14+ batteries in the trunk is a lot of weight.

If you're not hopping your Rumion (and I sure hope you're not!) then I'd stay with a larger wheel. Larger wheels look better, IMO.

Thanx guys for your advise! After installing a sprint booster and a few days of running in. I glad that im able to fetch a healthy 12.5km/L at an average speed of 100km/h. I really love my rims a lot after all the afford bring in to my country. Now my only worry is the braking. By changing the brake hose to stainless steel will help? Or is there any other solution to improve the braking as well as the power like changing muffler box? Thanx!
