Default Maintenance Light no worky?

Wondering if it's possible to accidentally disable the Maintenance Req'd light in the dash?

I usually go by that for my oil changes, but it hadn't come on and I was actually late in getting my oil changed this last time. I figured maybe it would come on any time, but it hasn't. I'm wondering if the goons at Jiffy Lube messed it up last time they reset it, or if that's even possible?

Haven't been jump-started and haven't replaced the battery lately so not sure what else could be causing it...

Thanks,
Jen

How late was it? The light doesn't necessarily go by miles, but sometimes engine hours.

Okay, I thought it went by miles. It still hasn't come on and I believe it's been more than 5k miles since the last time it came on.

Chances are it could have been about to turn on. Especially if you don't do a lot of city driving.

If whoever did your oil change is competant, they will have reset the light and you wont see it for atleast another 4-6k miles.

Okay, well that would make sense then. I'll check and see if that's what they did. Thanks!

It is be mileage, you can set it for any 1k miles interval between 1 and 5k miles. it usually goes off about 500 before the actual mile. Also, if you reset the car (like disconnect the battery) it also resets the reminder.

I called Jiffy Lube and confirmed that they did reset it when I was there, even though the light wasn't on yet. So I take back all the mean things I said.
