Default Ipod 80gb classic + stock pioneer headunit = no thanks?

I plug in the cord provided with the car into the ipod spot...connect the ipod... and if I the aux/ipod button on the headunit, nothing happens. It will charge the ipod no problem, but that is it.

sounds like a bad port or cable. bad port could be ipod OR car. does your ipod work on any other device that plugs in via the charging port? like a dock on speakers? if so, then it's either the cable or the port in your car.

maybe a bad wire in the cable or pin in the port that's not allowing the audio to go through
