Smile Replace speakers only

Hey, got a 2010 xd and I don't like the sound. I really don't want to go crazy and mess with the deck and all. Any one just replace the speakers and see how it sounds? what size are the speakers? also, I have a couple of 6" - 2 ohm speakers that are awesome, but they needed an amp. Used them on my last car but it had 3 amps and a lot more room. If I put my sub in this car I will lose all my trunck space, so I think I just want to get the best replacement speakes and see how it does.
Kind regards,
Dave

I know the front doors have 6.5" speakers. You don't have to lose all of your trunk space for subs. I know I have a 12" sub will almost all of my trunk space and there is a few other people with xDs that have subs will all their trunk space.

Here: (I now have a grill over the sub and can put what ever used to fit in there still)

I have always like the stock Toyota speakers. I've had a 1996 Camry and a 2004 Tacoma, and I've always just replaced the head unit to an after market Pioneer and been satisfied. From what I understood was that the stock ones were more of a paper cone which carried good range and response but lacked durability. I did blow the ones in my Camry after years of use with just the HU no amp. If you still have one of your favorite old speakers just take off the door panel and disconnect the stock speaker and flip back and forth between the speakers to see if you can tell a difference. You should have the new head unit in the 2010 with 200 watts comparable to most after market.

Just reread what I wrote and saw how unhelpful it was. I guess it is subjective to what you like though. Take out one stock speaker and hook it up to a decent system, something that you know has good sound, like a home stereo. (don't turn it up loud you don't want to blow a speaker) This way you could easily switch between your different speakers and split hairs

Default ok

Ok so maybe I will put my sub it as well. I have a 12" sub that would look pretty cool where you have yours. I like the idea of replacing the deck, but I just don't want to loose all of the built in stuff: ipod usb connetion, input jack, and best of all the volume and controls on the steering wheel. I suppose if I get some good speakers in her and I still don't like the sound the only place left is the deck. Thanks for the replys.
Kind regards,
Dave
