Anyone get it done yet? If so post up a picture of what was installed by the dealer.

The moment I found out from Yahoo auto that Toyota were recalling Corolla, Matrix and xD, I printed it out and went to my dealership because I knew that Toyota corporate is slow to issue their own recall notices. When I went to the service department, they were already up to date with the situation so it was no hassle. The only thing I complained about was the time. I made an appointment at 9AM and I got my car back at 3PM. This was around 9/9/09 before Scion issued the letter around the week of 9/21 so prepare to wait a long time since probably now Corollas, xD's, and Matrix's will be lined up the block to get this fixed. My car was '08 xD and they had to replace three items: hose, air cleaner, and connector assist kit. If you brought the warranty, it should be covered. Pardon my bad camera quality.

Hope this helps.

That's crazy bier... I have a few friends that are techs at the dealership and they said it takes about 12 minutes.

Just because you haven't had problems yet doesn't mean there isn't potential for a problem to occur. Assuming my car isn't totaled, I'm still taking my baby in!

well according to this website... all 400,000 owners will be informed....

http://content.usatoday.com/communit.../08/68497915/1

that was as of august 27th. also it said about an hour to do...

so 6 hours for your car to get done? that's nuts.... i think they just wanted the hours for their "compensation" bier...

also check this site i just found... it's updated with recalls when they happen...

If you don't make an appointment, or if you didn't buy your car from that dealership, then no, they aren't going to take you first. It's the same way at my dealership.

Hm, I guess the Toyota techs don't know what they're talking about. Hopefully when I get my xD back from the body shop, it won't take an hour! Nooo fun! 6 hours though, I would have left.

Ugh that sucks because I bought my car from the only dealership in town who had the xD coming in during the time frame I wanted one. The only problem is that dealership is about 20 miles from me, and there is one about 5 miles from me I always take it to. Hmm..

I still haven't gotten my notice. I should probably head up there soon since we are starting to get frost warnings, and I usually work early in the morning.

Default 09 Scion xd recalls

I have had to replace the brakes on my gfs 09 scion xd every single year we have owned it and we bought it brand new. Toyota even replaced my brakes for free last year after they screwed up my front end alignment. Now exactly a year later, the brakes are bad, rubbing on the rotors, making all kinds of grinding noises. Im wondering why does this happen? Then i come across this recall, and it is not covered in this cold state of PA?? Where we have had hellish snowstorms over the past 3 winters. What kind of BS is that? So my gf has to drive her kids around in a car with bad brakes, then we are insulted by all these folks on here claiming that it must be the way we drive it. Yeah, thats why every single person i have ever met that owns a scion, says they have the same brake problem. This car is a rip off, the only thing good about it is the gas mileage. It eats brakes and tires like its goin out of style. We wanted to purchase a new car, so as not to have many headaches, this car has turned out to be nothing but a headache. When she brought it home i looked underneath and the exhaust was rusty. I called toyota and asked why they would sell my gf a brand new car with a rusty exhaust , they told me that the amont of rust on the exhaust was normal.???? Then upon taking it in for our first maintenance at the dealer, they scratch the hell out of it, then when i confront them, they didnt do it, it was like that. Now that its almost paid off, im ready to set it on fire,I would feel horrible reselling it to someone knowing that it is a complete pos. Toyota, You sold me a POS, now make it right.

okay i know you're on a rant and frustrated.. but to answer your first question, the brakes would not wear down if there was a vacuum check valve recall. That has to do with the power assist to the brakes. not about them actually stopping the car. That would be part of the caliper, sounds like no one has checked to see if the sliding pins on the caliper are seizing up. Those usually every other year (i do mine once a year) need to be relubed and reinstalled. If that is bad, i can see why the pads are wearing down quickly.

As far as the alignment goes, I've seen SOME dealerships (not all, for those who will defend dealers and to be fair) do a pretty poor alignment job which even though they set it all "within specifications" doesn't mean it's optimal, could be on the max setting and still look OK.. it would still wear strangely.

and the exhaust rusting? yeah they dont last forever. I know on some other makes they put on stainless steel from the factory! usually about 4-6 years is what factory pipes last.. Mine's that old and has some surface rusting on them, but hasn't perforated through, yet..

so check on those brake caliper sliding pins, lube them up, it's a lithium based glycol soap grease. i posted up here before about it, you can search my posts for the part number. toyota does sell the correct grease, if you use silicone on the sliding pins it WILL gum up the pins so that they don't work. maybe that's another thing the dealer did, i've seen a dealer or two that thinks that's fine.. nope it's not. hope that helps

Uhmm.....wow.
Sounds like something wrong somewhere.
I've got a 2009. Only thing I've had to do so far is regular oil changes and replace one tire I damaged on a curb.
