Anyone ever file a "Diminished Value" claim?
Was involved in a collision in October 2011 involving 3 parties. Out of the three, I was the only one at no fault. The fault was split 50/50 between the other two.
My xD ended up in the shop with an estimate of nearly $8000 (I was extremely suprised they did not total it, since the repair was over 50% of the cars value)
Fast forward to today... I went to the local Carmax today to get my car appraised. Market value for my 2008 xD w/ 57k miles would be around $11-12k based on what they are listed for locally(no dealers and their markups). They appraised it for $6000 due to the telltale signs that the frame had been rewelded and straightened. After talking with the apprasier, he said that the damage had easily cost me $3-4k in resale value. He also mentioned the insurance companies might be liable for that loss, stating diminished value.
Has anyone claimed diminished value with an insurance carrier? How long did it take and what was the result?

It's something on the lines you should of mention it when the accident happened? Unless there's loop hole?
I didn't mention it. My old boss was in accident too: he mention it to the at fault party's insurance company. He end up getting a check that was additional 4k.
I'm getting my tC appraised by Carmax within 2 weeks. KBB valued my car for 4,000 due to high mileage & accident (thinking fair value level.) Being Carmax car, they sometimes give you some breaks for being returning costumer; they used to pay for your service fees. I'm hoping for 2,000.
