Got a buddy who has very blue lights, granted you can't see much but blue. When they turn on they are deep purple, then warm up to blue. Yes very illegal, but my buddy has gotten away with it for almost a year now. I do believe that because some websites have the blue/purple listed as 20K they get them mixed with 10K-12K

Those stats are for Phillips 85122 bulbs. No bulb on the market offers 3200 lumens, other than the 85122+ and an Osram bulb, which is the same bulb as the Phillips. These cheap knock off bulbs don't even come close to 3200 lumen, their 4300k bulbs are probably in the ballpark of 2500lm.

So why all the flaming ? You guys aren't getting them in your car. My car is nothing but purple lights, so makes sense to have purple headlights? If seeing becomes a problem, I buy 8ks (Flame me for this too)

You're getting flamed for a couple reasons. First off, those bulbs are super illegal. Second, they're ricey as hell. Third, they're dangerous. They produce way less usable light than a halogen bulb, you won't be able to see anything. Fourth, anything over 8000K is obnoxious as hell to other drivers (even 8000K is pushing it).

Do you drive down the street with all of your purple lights on?
Can we get a pic of your car, just so we can see what we're working with?

I second that nothing but rice seems to come out of Florida (for the majority of cars)

I just didn't wanna start sht with a state rofl BUT since squall did, I'll back him on it.

Hey...didn't Fast and the Furious 2 take place in Florida?!?!?

yep LOL WUT!
To the OP Don't worry what people say, just get some thick skin. Most of us have researched the heck out of HIDs, they are just saying the light output is horrible, so make sure you have some fogs, but I know where you are coming from.

I can't speak specifically to the xD, but since they share the H4 bulb that the xB uses...
H4 bulbs glare like *****. Since the single bulb handles both low and high beam functions, a regular old H4 HID bulb will be illuminating both the high and low beam section of the headlight reflector (in essence, your highs will always be on).

That's what I've seen with my first set of HIDs... now, I just got a set of bi-xenon bulbs and they're fantastic. They have a massive shield that produces a nice cutoff with very little glare, and the harness that comes with will enable high beam use... a window on the shield opens and allows light to hit the high beam section of the headlight, so H4 HID with very little scatter and the use of highs. A+

The bulbs were 50 or 60 bucks, but well worth it.

@JJGeneral

I have 6k's, and there's an INCREDIBLY noticeable hotspot in your vision range lol I adjusted the aim a bit myself and it wasn't too bad, but you'll have to definitely work on it to get it looking decent and functioning as they should be.

No, we're not getting them in our cars, but some of us might have to deal with your glarerific ricer lights. Ever hear of something called highway etiquitte?

Here's a suggestion, get two sets of bulbs. The same ballast, harness, etc. can be used for both. Buy a set of 4.3k or 6k bulbs for street use, and then a set of 12, 20, or whatever you feel like for use at shows. You get the look you want for parking hard and save yourself from getting pulled over and annoying other drivers on the street. Bulb swaps take 30 seconds in the xB, I can't imagine the xD being much more difficult.

a lot more difficult. a lot less room in the engine bay. hard to move hands in if you have big hands, like me.

Still a better idea than to drive with less useable light than a keychain flashlight.

I wish the xD were so simple...30 seconds to replace light bulbs...that'd be a dream. no...that would be NORMAL.
