About the rubber wrap, kneel down on the ground and look at the rear springs. Do they have a rubber strip running up them?

I haven't picked up my xD RS 1.0 yet, but should I mention this rattle to the dealer in case I find that my dash rattles too? Maybe its something they can fix before I even leave the dealership with it?

I'd say just let it go, and if it's a problem take it in and tell them nicely that you'd like for it to be fixed.

There is no point of telling them there is a rattle somewhere in the xD without actually driving the xD to see if you do have a rattle If you do find that your have one, try and locate the area then go to the dealer about it.

Thanks! Just didn't know if they could do something prophylactically so I could avoid coming back if there was indeed an issue.

I'll be heading back to my dealer shortly since I have a rattle in my dash and I also am having problems with my satilite receiver cutting in and out more often. :?

its definately something with the gauge cluster piece (the one that surrounds the gauges)... is this where yours is coming from chels? it only seems to do it when its cold in the car.

I have stock springs, TRD shocks/struts, same vibration. Very annoying, started around 3500 for me.

I actually have an interesting one. This happens usually on hot days, but I've been hearing an almost creaking type of noise. It seems to be coming from the left/front of the dash, maybe where it connects to the windshield. I'm not sure as I haven't had time to really track it down since it is intermittent.

I have a new rattle noise! It's by the small speaker on my driver's door and it rattles something fierce when I have bass booming! Yes yes I know bass rattles things but it's never rattled that badly before lol.

Thinking of taking apart the car and putting small foam pieces in places to see if that would help at all.

500 miles on mine and the rattle has started. yay. Sounds like it is coming from the center area of the dash.

Same noise here, sounds as if it right in the middle of the dash.

Welp, I have it also (3500 mi). It's not all the time though.
Sounds like it's the piece around the instrument panel

Default BUMP - ANYONE HAD THIS CHECKED OUT YET?

Folks - the rattle is def in the center of the dash, rigth behind the top of the gauge console.

If you push down there firmly the rattle stops.

HAS ANYONE BEEN TO THE DEALER YET? I WONDER IF THEY CAN GET TO THIS JUST BY PULLING THE CONSOLE FACE.

I have about 4,000 miles on my xD and I also have just recently noticed a rattle coming from the middle of the dash. At my first oil change I will have the dealer document it and fix it. I don't mind doing the work myself but it is still under warranty so why not have the dealer fix it.

I have all the rattles, clinks, squeaks, etc.. except for the one in the center of my dash. Just padded what's under there (air ducts) and the problem went away. As far as everything else, I live with it.

I have not read about any other noises coming from the car - only the dash.

Rattles need to be taken care of and documented or they will not get fixed (TSBs) for future buyers-

Dont live with it- have them deal with it.

eh...i have small ones. not worth it to tear out the center dash. I'm just going to live with it unless it gets really loud.

I think you can get to these rattles throught the center consol w/out removing the dash, and tape everything off like the fellow above writes....that is what I will try.
