Default Five Axis lip kit in the wild - full car pics

I am pretty happy with the way it turned out, especially now that I've seen it in the daylight.

Front lip is getting replaced and repainted, this time hopefully without hi-temp baking.

I'd like to see a wider shot, too, but I could not get it to fit yet. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, maybe not, but it's not as plug and play as I wanted it to be.

That's about as far as it wants to go on both sides. I'll give it another tug when I get home tonight.

Huh, that sucks. Almost looks like you would have to shave a tad off the back of the stock bumper to make it fit.

Yeah, I'd get a refund + cover my paint expenses before I do that.

I'm glad you're doing the whole guinea pig thing Zol. That way when I finally get the cash to start on mine, you'll have all the answers.

:D

good luck, keep us updated.

The shaving isn't suppose to be on the stock bumper... it should be on the lip kit, you have changed the size of the lip kit by painting it, so you will need to shave the inside to make it fit, also if you take a heat gun to the inside of it you can soften the plastic enough to stretch it to where it needs to go...

hope that helped...

I might try the heatgun tonight - looks like urethane has a tendency to shrink when heated, so I hope it won't have an opposite effect.

Just to clarify this little fitment issue - seems to be the problem with the dealer bodyshop that I used - I assume they baked in the kit after painted which caused the urethane to shrink a bit and screw up the fitment.

Five Axis has nothing to do with the issue and were very helpful in diagnosing the problem.

Sneak peeks continued...

Got the back done today - blacked out part of the lip with flat black vinyl and installed it permanently:

Hopefully will get the sideskirts on tomorrow. Front lip will have to be replaced and repainted...

Probably last sneak peek for the night. Another skirt tomorrow and then long excruciating wait for the front lip...
