Default Gas Gauge - has this happened to you?

08 XD automatic.

Very weird thing happened today. Filled up my tank, gas gauge showed "full", everything normal… started driving home… about 30 minutes into my drive home, the gauge was flashing empty. I pulled over to make sure gas cap was secure and it was. I didn't know what else to check. So I continued driving. All of a sudden it came back. Very bizarre.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I had this issue with my vette at one time.. the sensor in the tank gets tacky from tarnish and what not... some fuel injector cleaner such as techron or red line will keep it clean and resolved the problem.. a easy cheap solution... might be your fix too...

Fuel Sender problem.

I had one changed under warranty when i had my xD.

mine was messed up to where it would read full bars for 80% of the tank, then go down like normal, and id run out of gas around the half tank mark.

not the exact same issue, but if i had an issue with a fuel sender, then its possible you do as well.
