Default Rear bumper protector

Hey I'm wondering if this would be a good investment for my car. I know it would probably be a good idea if I rest things on the bumper or sometihng like that, but so far I haven't really used the trunk. Maybe wait till I need to use it to hide scratches? haha.

I picked up an xD loaner today from the dealership (getting wheels) that has the bumper protector. It is the first one I have seen. It reminds me of skateboard grip tape. I cant say that I think it will protect the bumper all that much. Unless you intentionally rest things directly on it and not across the bumper around it. It does not span the entire length of that area.

Also, a difference from the accessories brochure, the Scion logo on the left is die cut. Meaning that the color of your car will show through the protector. Looks nice on the red one I have for the night. On my black one, maybe not as much.

I also thought about applying to cover scratches, should there be any. Seems like a good idea.

just get it. the xd is very simmilar to the xa in functionality, and the bumper protector was a must for my xa. learned that the hard way.

it looks a lot different than the xas's, and also seems more efficient (if you are talking about the rhino-line looking stuff). my xd wont leave the dealership without one -_-

My wife's nautical blue xD has the bumper protector- it cost something like 68 bucks, but looks like 10 bucks. Still, it should keep the golf bag from scratching her bumper.

Scion's prices for accesories are absurd. Their cargo cover is the biggest rip-off I've ever seen!

xD, nautical blue
automatic
stability control
16" alloys (on backorder)
floor & cargo mats

TRDSparks.com has a pretty good price on the cargo cover.

I can get the bumper protector for $44 total off of ebay. Sounds cheap to me! But yea I have to agree that the prices are a bit high, maybe they'll drop in a couple months?

yes, the 200+ for the cargo cover is extreme, esp. since it's almost a necessity (for me, anyway) on a hatchback. Cover up contents from UV rays and/or potential thieves.

My wife's been using a nice wool blanket- probably gonna stay that way, too. I swear- the $250(?) cargo cover looks like 20 bucks worth!

Got some shots of the bumper protector on my loaner:

Btw, this does look like it should cost $10.

I also feel that the price of accessories is steep. I decided what I thought necessary was worth it (cargo cover, premium stereo, mats, tried to get the stock alloys).

Although I now wish I would have shopped around a little for things instead of just getting them at dealer list prices.

Default Rear Bumper Protector

Installed one today...$35 plus shipping (from Sparks Toyota/Scion...again, they have the best prices around and no I am not affiliated with them in any way-shop around and you will see for yourself!). Looks good, and yeah this is something that should have been included...all of the "accessory options" really are just extra profit opportunities for the "stealerships".
Sorry about the no pics- I promise to get off my lazy ___ this weekend and post some

Here is mine on my '08 xB. I just couldn't see spending money on cheesy one made for xB's. This was thrown in for free with other invisible protection I had installed. Would be very easy to do yourself if you want something "invisible".

the ones that came with the xAs were clear as well, with a shadowed "scion" text in the middle. it looks really nice. i don't like where they went with the asphalt look.
