Stock Tires?

Stock Tires?
What are the stock tires xDs are rolling on. I'm buying aftermarket wheels, and was wondering if I should upgrade the OEM tires.
I know I'll get a lot of "definitely go 18s" but that's not my interest. Just wondering if the tires are bad enough in rain/snow to justify, or if I should stick with stock tires on the alloys, and snow tires on the steels.

if the tires are anything like the tires on my xA, just do it. those were HORRIBLE. replaced them as soon as i could.
if you are buying aftermarket wheels, you should anyway. the stock tire size is really hard to come by, so I would look into getting a more common wheel size so you don't get stuck with a limited, sh*tty selection of wheels to choose from.

zoltiz has a post around here somewhere about tires for the xD and a link to a site that does the math between the tire differences for you.

the brand will vary- not every xD (or xA, xB and tC for that matter) will come with a certain brand of tires -- usually when you buy the car there is a booklet in the glove box about the tires with warranty information on the brand that the vehicle is equipped with.

While not all cars get the same tires, it's been my experience that, no matter the price, OEM tires suck. One exception, when you choose an optional tire upgrade (my 4x4 came with a nice set of tires, but the otherwise stock tires were sub-par).
where are you? do you deal with a lot of rain or snow?

Glad to see my SP Sport 5000s topped the Consumer Reports "Performance All-Season" test, while other xD's might have came with the Bridgestone Turanza EL400 - although poor in summer, its snow and ice performance seems to be comparable to the Dunlop SP Sport 5000s.
After testing the Dunlop SP Sport 5000s in heavy snow a few days ago, throughout my trip from Buffalo to Toronto on Thanksgiving day, I'm very much convinced of its snow and ice performance now. The tires did not even slip in those streets covered by several inches of dirty snow and ice, which were splashed everywhere by passing cars. Since the snowplow team is quite efficient here in Buffalo and because of the good ratings the Dunlop SP Sport 5000s received, I'm gonna stick with my stock tires throughout this winter.

maybe we (us here in middle tx) just get the bad tires since we don't really see much of anything but heat, lol. the tires that came on my xA were one of the worst-rated tires for the size.
now i'm curious to see what the xDs come with down here...
