I just got a manual xD in November of 2021 from Craigslist with 124K miles. I could not find information on a drivers seat replacement. I'm 5' 8" and have to duck my head down to see stoplight changes if I was first at a stoplight. I have a long torso and neck and tilted the seat back but my arms were stretched out to reach the steering wheel. I commute about 50 minutes one way to work and wanted to be more comfortable with good mpg and a little more power than a Yaris or Fit. Searching this forum, Google, and YouTube, I found nothing. I did find a few YouTube installs of racing seats very helpful. I also figured out the xD is basically a Yaris. I was able to switch out the drivers seat a few weeks ago. Here is my album link - https://www.scionlife.com/g/album/23766836 I just joined Scionlife so am not sure if my profile and album are viewable yet. I am no mechanic, so this is just what I was able to do on my own to solve a problem I had with the xD. I gained almost 3 inches of head room. I really like this car even more now. Hope this helps anyone else who needs this mod.Sparco Seat Install Parts links for a Scion xD

To remove 4 bolts on the seat base and install the new one, you need an E10 Torx (hex type) socket. I bought a set from O’Relly’s. It either has to be a very short socket with an extension or a long skinny one to clear the Sparco seat base. I returned a shorter one that was too tall and fat to even with an extension. I then got a longer skinnier one that fit a little side ways to clear the seat bracket. It worked.

@XtraDarkPurple A quantum leap in xD seat replacement.
Major props for meticulously sharing the steps w.images and the thorough research to gain a preferable, more functional seat height.
My reticence is the expense.
That's a lot of dough relative to what I paid for my used xD (used w.100K mi)

Q (just to confirm what I suspect): Did you reinstall the side airbag or does that remain in limbo via the emulator?

Hello Wowser,

Thank you for the props. Yes, the airbag is still with the stock seat. There is no way to mount it to the aftermarket seat. It is not cheap to switch out the seat, but my commute is about an hour and 40 mins round trip to work daily and I have lower back problems, so it was for health reasons and comfort. For me, it was worth the price. Summit Racing has a cheaper seat but I wasn't sure of the quality. I've put 15k miles on it since November 2021 and Love the seat and really like the car. Best regards!
