SEMA Scion Tuner Challenge

SEMA Scion Tuner Challenge
Last year it was all about the FR-S, this year it's the tC. SEMA is still a few weeks away but Scion's contest well underway. It looks like they're doing good work. If it ends up being anything like the cars from last year I'm interested.
Personally? I think the RHD conversion is original, but dumb. I'm not hating on it, I just think that RHD in the states makes the car worse. I respect the work though. The guy from Seattle is going with a wide-body VIP look. Huge wide tires and low stance? Yes please. The guys from Los Angeles have a more subtle exterior planned, which likely means it'll be my favorite.
Check out the video on the blog. Which car do you like?

I agree, i don't get why RHD is necessary. just to be unique i guess...
but i do like that guy's car because its the tC2 and not like the other two which are tC2.5s
Still i do thin i like the white one the most. looks awesome. now if only it was not slammed to the ground.

actually all 3 cars are tC2.5 (2014 models)
LA is doing all their work on their own while the other guys have been sending the car out to different shops to get the work done
Seattle even sent theirs down to get worked on in a shop in Southern California (after calling out SoCal saying that NorCal builds cars better)
The LA build is my clear favorite, the others don't come close

the Pennsylvania concept (the orange tC) does not look like 2.5 But they may have messed up the diagram.
I am surprised no one is doing a pure racing build like one of the FRSs. maybe they do not think of the tC as racing potential anymore. in 2010 i think they had a racing 2.0 tC.

every year they always use the exact same car. this tuner challenge is meant for the 2.5, their rendering is just really bad
tbh, its hard to justify a "race tc" because it isn't RHD. the only true "race tc" are Chris Rado's and Freddric Aasbo (2nd Gen) or Tony Angelo's old car (1st Gen)...all of those I believe have been converted to RWD and involved an engine swap of some sorts. So building a true "race tc" would completely blow the budget allotted for the build, let alone it being completed in the time frame.
(and in the 2010 challenge....2 entries had a race theme. neither won.)

Neither won but they were still there. only one really looked like a good race car (just my opinion) the other looked a bit off.
For only a $10,000 prize, i do not get how it's worth entering this tuner challenge as the builds themselves are going to be way over 10,000 spent on each car. (unless they are given the cars for free, but even then. turbo setups are done for more than 10K i think).

cars are "free" technically they are owned by scion and they pick 3 builders to work on them. in the end the car is given back to scion to do as they wish. the builders never own them
also they are given a budget from scion and are also encouraged to reach out to companies for sponsorships (freebies or discounts)
if they choose to spend out of pocket after all that its up to them

being that its cars that will be on display at sema inside, will probably be used at shows and meets around the US (sort of like the guys from the scion tuner challenge winners tour on the east coast) companies will just send free parts galore to people. i know some who are either inside or just outside at sema and they get everything from parts to wheels to seats just sent to them for sponsorship since their parts will be seen by people around the world
