I've removed the passenger side axle do get the driver side out.

This is my view inside of the transmission and I thought I'd be looking at the opposite axle end, but this looks different than expected.

Is this the part I'm supposed to snack with a metal bar to knock out the driver side axle?

I haven't worked on any transmissions but I recommend not punching it out that way. I would recommend getting the axle out the traditional way with a pry bar between the CV axle and the transmission. Hope this helps.
