So you guys know, make sure you are flooring the gas when doing this test. Also, I would crank each one 7 times (not 4-5).

Yea, I was at the Hump... 25P. The company was trash, but the country was nice.

If you have any leave time saved, JeJu island is beautiful. Me and my fiance took a week long trip there.
Already been here 14 months so i've pretty much tried everything. I'm a 25P too. You must have been in 501st sig co @ the hump. I'm in 293rd. Same BN.

I got 190 which is where you should be if things are dead on. I think 191 is perfect if i remember correctly (and i bought i $50 unit so there surely will be your 1-2% error in the gauge).

Im surely not knocking the guy who did the vid, big props ...cause thats going to get a lot of people able to perform this simple test. My friend showed me the first time and after that its cake. But, i dont see how its possible that if you keep cranking it goes past 190 ...... your filling up air ....once full ...how could it keep rising to 200, 210, 220 ....?

I will say it again, floor the gas also .... if you dont, you will get a 150 reading and think your engine is messed up hehe

^^ it will go up the more cranks you make! when I crank around 6 times i have around 210... cranking 7 times and only 190 seems low. Each crank rotation builds air pressure on the cylinder.. its like putting air to your tires, it maybe full but you could still fill more

I never floored the gas and mine was 180 on three and 190 on one. i dont think flooring it has much to do with it.

either way same readings. the only thing i can think is that it may dump fuel while doing that giving you a high reading...kinda same thing if you pour a little oil in the cylinder will do. sorry just going by instructions on my compression tester and exp.

however having the TB open is a step in the process...if you insist on stepping on the peddle i would suggest disabling the fuel pump via fuse.

I disconnected the injector harness just to be 100% that im not injecting fuel.. Are you guys just removing the EFI fuse? Im prolly just gonna do the EFI fuse next time, those injectors clips are kinda tough to disconnect.. oh wait there's only 1 EFI fuse right?

EFI fuse i know disables ignition...no idea what else though. I say pull fuse/relay for pump and EFI fuse your definitely good to go.

I forgot about this thread...lol
here is my crappy little boost leak test vid.

(just a couple of notes, when pressurizing the system you notice the vsv will open and close even though there is no power going to it so its best to go ahead and cap it off, also the VC vent line can be capped but youll want to remove the cap and test after you fix all the main leaks to make sure your pcv is sealing)

sounds like a really noob question but how much soap do you need to add to make sure enough is in the water solution (so it bubbles like you have it) - lets say you are starting out w/ 1/3rd of that bottle in the vid is full of water

to be perfectly honest i dont know...lol...i just grabbed some dawn and an empty spray bottle and dumped some in...its a good question though, i would guess that two tablespoons full and half a spray bottle of water would do. dawn pretty much makes bubbles no matter the amount of it mixed with water..lol

btw in the vid i said i had the regulator set to 14psi, well it was for about a min next test i did it somehow ramped up to 30psi. never the less it still sealed after i had to replace the crappy stock clamp on the intake manifold line going to the vavle cover. I found its best to clamp some of the larger lines such as the one going to the intake manifold with wormdrive clamps. stock clamps just dont cut it for high boost but prolly still good for low boost like 8psi

I just tried to do a boost leak test today.. Just a quick question, there is a huge huge leak on the throttle body, is it supposed to leak there? im not sure if its the Idle control valve but it hisses loud, blows air like a fan and loud whistle when I turn up the pressure.. my air compressor wont even build pressure..

Oh I didnt use the turbo as air entry, I used the vacuum lines I tried the TB line that goes to the VSP and then the wastegate.. Is it a must to introduce air before the TB like the turbo or charge pipe?
