Same thing happened to me, which led me to realize that you want to bend the tab that is NOT part of the switch mechanism back. The other one needs to stay more or less straight, like it was, to maintain proper switchiness.

FYI: guys with big fingers; the front dome may take a tad longer to get your fingers up there and get those tiny bulbs pulled out.

and FYI pt. 2: for the trunk light, i found the easiest way, is to first try and fit the LED in and then slightly move the metal 'arm' is connected to the switch (the one that slightly moves back and forth when you flip the switch. i only bent it back slightly and then slid the LED in. BE VERY CAREFUL.
(pm me if you have further questions - the trunk took me about 2 mins to do.)

Alright guys, I had some time over the weekend and tried to fix my problem. Just a recap, if I have both of the dome lights set to 'door', one of them will still barely be on when they turn off.

I did check the fuse in the engine bay as recommended and it is not blown. I tried putting in the red LEDs (I bought both red and white, couldn't decide) and I still have the same problem. So I assume the bulbs are fine? I ended up just putting back my stock bulbs for now but they still don't turn on when I turn off the engine (I'm pretty sure they did that before). So I'm not sure what the problem is now.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

i remember the first time i saw the first person that frantically panicked about that issue... (so much so that) i immediately ran to my car to take that picture... i forget how long ago that was...

lemme check... hmm... i took that picture hmm.. back in April..

not the best pic.. but it proves the unit can be removed... which is the point.

Figured I'd chime in and show my 5 minute handy work:

I swapped the Dome lights in the front and back: (excuse the blur, getting used to this new camera):

IS350 Taillight Swap (cough cough LEDs): (excuse the dirt, getting used to having to wash a new car lol)

This is one of the more rewarding mods. Took 5 minutes for each portion and looks really classy, used the white LEDs from SBLEDs they have a hue of blue to them like a 6000k HID which is cool because that's what I run...

Anyways hope everyone else is having good success with this clean mod..

hmm.. more like.. order some pink leds and solder them together to make a "bulb" or to replace leds already part of a "bulb"
