Toyota Trekker
Well, this morning I discovered the existence of the Toyota Trekker, thanks to eBay.
The photo pictured above was taken from an eBay auction for a truck being sold in Plover, WI. There are no bids yet, but bidding starts at $2500.

WIKIPEDIA: Toyota and the Winnebago Company formed a joint venture to develop a mini-truck version of the 4 wheel drive recreational vehicles which we now call SUVs. Toyota supplied bare pickup truck chassises without a bed and Winnebago created an all-fiberglass body to go on the rear. This vehicle was called the Trekker [1] and was the predecessor of the Toyota 4Runner. The production run with Winnebago lasted from late 1979 until late 1983.
Concurrent to the Trekker production run, Toyota was working with other vendors on similar prototypes called the Toyota Wolverine and Toyota Blazer. These very rare trucks are similar to the Trekker, but have subtle differences.
In 1983, Toyota took over production of the Trekker and renamed it the 4Runner which first hit the streets in October 1983 for the 1984 model year. Toyota jettisoned the fiberglass body design in favor of steel, but they retained the removable fiberglass top.

One of my friends had one of these that he sold not to long ago up here in Alaska.
Sad thing is it was parked over the winter next to an 2 story house and all the snow that piled up on the roof over the winter sluffed off when it warmed up and completely crushed the vehicle... Sad demise for a rare truck :S

No where near the condition of the first one. Deffinitely a project vehicle.
Man, you're really on top of these Trekker's aren't ya. Kind of have the itch to get one?
I know it's an Isuzu, but did anyone see the Vehicross in the background of the first one? That's what I'd like to have.
