"It's powered by Subaru's 2.0-litre boxer engine, which puts out 146bhp in current production form but should develop slightly more in future iterations."
Unless it weighs under 2500 pounds, I hope it's got at least 25% more power...

You have to remember that it is an N/A 2.0 liter engine. It is also a RWD car. They have been saying that keeping weight down is one of the main components.
Anyways, pick up a stock turbokit from a pre-2006 WRX and you can easily make 230 WHP on a conservative tune. You know Subaru will have a turbo option when it comes out anyways. If not, people will just do STi swaps.

7tune: "Firstly, the power output. We should now expect the 086A’s FJ20 2000cc boxer four to produce 160PS, a good 40PS less than was previously quoted which is all due to stricter economy and emissions targets. Toyota/Subaru haven’t let this dilute the performance as we’re told the car has also lost some weight in order to keep a respectable power to weight ratio."
This is good news in a way. Since they've detuned it, the gains might be more noticeable with aftermarket replacement parts.
Less weight + same power (potentially) can only be good for us

WANT!!!! So, so, SO glad to hear that this project wasn't killed. It looks gorgeous, and I'd bet that that body is ~99% production ready. The interior will get tuned down a bit, but I would be surprised if they were selling this next spring as an early 2011 model.

If the body looks like that, and of course the interior will look more like and interior of today not of 2056 or something it can have a 2.0 NA boxer engine and pump out tC numbers. As long as they make it light weight like its been said and planned. I am so down. Its sleek, sexy, and will turn heads. I like the color but am a blue guy myslef or unless there is a dark gray color. I love how its gonna have a 6-speed and its prolly gonna have an LSD or at least be offered. Hopefully some supportive seats like in a STI or something. Toyota's gotta know this is gonna be a car us speed freaks are gonna want. i mean we have been saying it ever since the Supra went bye-bye. Just turbo that thing which will be easy since it will have a stout boxer engine. Its gonna do better than the Genesis coupe I would think cause its coming from Toyota. I love the genesis coupe but for all the hype I dont see any on the road. i have seen one in the dealership and that was when i was back in washington state.
